Fury Road is great action, but lacks character development compared to Road Warrior, which says a lot, really. I really liked the Vulvalini and especially the Keeper of the Seeds, but I've watched it a few times and it never feels like it's really there for me. Maybe Furiosa needed more time on her own. And Thunderdome gets a lot of hate, but it's the foundation of what the culture thinks a post-apocalyptic "city" would be like, and it's difficult not to see its fingerprints everywhere. (Sorry, I meant pocky-clipse city). It's tough to rank these.

You ever read the book Ridley Walker? I swear to God that without it there wouldn't be a Beyond Thunderdome. The section with the kids is basically that book. It's about a kid living long after some kind of breakdown, so long that everyone has forgotten what happened. And language has changed so dramatically that it's only technically English. The entire book is written the way that those kids talk in Thunderdome. It's wild.

I have a copy, but I need to be in the mood to read weird invented languages. The Country of Ice Cream Star was like that, and Clockwork Orange of course... but it's been a few years since I read one, so maybe I'll tackle Riddley this year.
